Aims:
The NHS Stop Smoking Service is a successful initiative to support people in quitting smoking. All Smoking Cessation Advisors must attend annual refresher training to keep up to date with the latest Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) developments and behaviour change techniques.
What to expect
We have changed to way we deliver the annual refresher training. We now offer quarterly sessions covering a different topic each time (for more, see below). You must attend at least one of these as part of your annual refresher. We will also share medication updates via bulletins throughout the year.
During the sessions, there will be an opportunity to discuss issues you face during your role as an advisor and learn from others who have experienced similar issues. We will contact you prior to the training for these.

Please note: all stop smoking advisors are required to attend an annual refresher as outlined in the service level agreement your practice holds with Public Health.

Motivational Interview training for smoking cessation advisors
We are offering this 2 day course for smoking cessation advisors on 6th and 13th March 2024, 09.30 - 16.30 each day and both days must be attended. To book, please use the correct dates below. It will show on the booking for as a smoking cessation refresher but it will be Motivational Interviewing.

Who should attend?
This course is designed for any staff identified as part of the a better u programme, who are currently registered as smoking cessation advisors in South Tyneside and are due their annual refresher.
